Come hear Dawn Chaney speak on The Economic Development and Growth of Downtown Greensboro.
In 1980 Dawn initiated a real estate investment business in Greensboro that started with one single family property that she still owns today. Her portfolio includes single family, multi family, commercial, industrial and warehouse properties. Her area of concentration is downtown Greensboro with special focus on historic properties. She is committed to the development of the city center.
Dawn’s work on property renovation was recognized with a Most Improved Commercial Property Award and placement of a large Fisher Park renovation on the National Register of Historic Places. She was named Business Women of the Year in 2009, received the Ed Kitchen Leadership award in 2014 for her leadership, vision and dedication in the revitalization of Downtown Greensboro. Also in 2014 she received the Spirit of Entrepreneur Award from Junior Achievement. In 2015 Dawn was recipient of the Athena Award.
Dawn was a founder of the Guilford Green Foundation and co-founder of its Endowment Fund. She supports the Women’s Resource Center, is a past president of the Greensboro Landlords Association, and Past Chair of Downtown Greensboro, Inc. (DGI). She is past chair and a current member City of Greensboro Redevelopment Commission, City Community Partners Board, PlanIt Greensboro, Guilford County Historic Development Commission, Arts Greensboro Board of Directors, Carolina Theater Advisory Board, Chamber of Commerce GROW Greensboro Committee, Carolina First Bank Board of Directors, UNC-G Board of Visitors. Dawn is a proud member of the Women Presidents Organization.
